What is ReaderBound?

The publishing industry has undergone many changes in the past few decades, most of which has been driven by technology. We believe that it is essential for publishers to have their own high-quality website, capable of supporting all the digital efforts of the press, and importantly,  independently generating revenue. ReaderBound is the best-of-breed web solution that gives publishers the tools they need to succeed in the digital world in a cost-effective manner, while establishing a direct-to-consumer sales channel that directly connects to the press’s readers.

How are ReaderBound and Mugo Web related?

Mugo Web has a long history of working with book publishers. Our experience and connections in the industry gave us the insight to realize that our solution was not only a game-changer but deserved its own focus. ReaderBound was spun off from Mugo Web and developed as a standalone product in collaboration with business partners from the publishing industry. ReaderBound clients benefit from the development expertise of Mugo Web and the insider insights from peers in the field of publishing.

Drive more sales with bespoke features

Publishers need their own retail channel, one not controlled by the whims of mega corporations. Publishers should be in control of their own discount models and have the agency to set and run their own digital campaigns to promote their catalog. ReaderBound gives publishers the control they need and the easy-to-use features that make managing their website a breeze.

Custom or off the shelf features

ReaderBound comes in 2 flavours, Bespoke and Basic. The first offering is intended for presses that have complex requirements, including examples such as multi-language, multisite, additional retail considerations, etc. The other is for presses that need access to the core capabilities and are prepared to defer customizations until the ROI is more obvious.

Bespoke solutions typically include several macro ingredients; bibliographic data consulting, custom design including accessibility and usability concerns, complex retail considerations such as different fulfillers depending on location, and so on. The interesting thing is that sometimes a solution that is pioneered in one of the Bespoke solutions can become available in the Basic solution. Automated desk and exam copy requests is an example of this; it is now available in all Basic solutions.

Basic solutions require that the press have an ONIX solution and a fulfillment provider. The ReaderBound instance contains the same feature as the Bespoke, but doesn't provide the opportunity for customizations. In other words, if you want a site up and running in a couple weeks, this is the way to do it.

Publishers can choose the retail streams they want to promote, for however their customers want to access their material. Whether it’s shipping a physical copy directly to the reader, providing a direct ebook download, or linking to audiobook distribution, all choices are displayed in an appealing manner. The ReaderBound CMS can handle multiple IBSNs for the same title, providing clear purchasing options for customers in their preferred format.

Not only does the site provide marketing tools to promote digital campaigns and sales, but it also has options to export automated catalog selections to InDesign. With a few clicks, marketing teams can have a custom, printable design to cost-effectively print for trade shows or share digitally through social media.

ReaderBound supports native translation for multilingual sites, increasing audience reach and maintaining SEO best practices.

Once a ReaderBound site has been built out and the client has made the stylistic and feature options, the site can essentially run itself. It automatically updates the catalog thanks to Onix integration. Publishers can choose to update features like blogs and supplemental resources as they like, or focus on what they do best- publishing books, without having the stress of configuring a website.

DISTRIBUTE.png

Publishers don’t have to spend time updating records across platforms; data can be shared on Amazon and other 3rd party fulfillment partners. Publishers can choose which retail partners are featured on their site and individual catalog pages.

ReaderBound has been built from the ground up to optimize the standardization of Onix data across versions. Once the Onix feed has been integrated, the catalog is shared across platforms, making your data more consistent, reliable, and manageable.

Why ReaderBound?

ReaderBound also benefits from a clear, two-tiered pricing model.
